**Burmese glass is a type of opaque colored art glass, shading from yellow to pink, found in either the rare original "shiny" finish or the more common "satin" finish.
***"December 15 1885, glass craftsman Frederick S Shirley discovered by adding uranium and liquid gold to an opal glass mixture it produced a rich yellow color glass. Upon Reheating, the color turned a delicate salmon pink. This discover gave the glassmaking world its instantly and continually popular "Burmese" glass. Queen Victoria was especially enamored of the shade and declared it reminded her of a Burmese sunset, prompting the name "Burmese"."
