The idea behind Cut the Roots is based off of Matthew 18: 8 If your hand or your foot causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life crippled or lame than to have two hands or two feet and be thrown into eternal fire. It is so important that we don't let "things" take root in our life that lead us away from God. We need to constantly make sure we are dwelling on God and not giving breathing room to anything that will suffocate us spiritually.
