This is one gorgeous dark smokey quartz egg. Then again, I may be biased because smokey quartz and clear quartz have me in awe. Or, is it "Ahhh." ; > )))

Smokey Quartz ranges in color from very pale beige to dark brown. Its coloring comes from naturally occurring sodium and / or natural underground radiation where it grows. The greater the saturation of sodium or radiation, the darker the color. Smokey Quartz can also be created by subjecting clear quartz to radiation or x-rays.

In addition to being aesthetically pleasing to the eye, one reason smokey quartz was put on this earth was to keep us grounded. Like many other brown stones, smokey quartz is particularly beneficial for helping us keep our feet firmly planted on the ground. While on that, smokey quartz also helps us remain grounded after doing some serious astral travelling.

Unlike other stones that can work rapidly and sometimes violently on us (ie: moldavite), the energy of smokey quartz is indeed intense, however it is more gentle, slow and drawn out. If I were to classify this crystal astrologically, I would guess that Scorpio (intense), Taurus and Capricorn (slow and steady) and Libra (gentle) would dominate its chart. ; > ) While on that subject, Melody (Love Is In The Earth) says that Smokey Quartz is the stone for Capricorns and Sagittarians.

In addition to being a phenomenal grounding and stabilizing force, the energy of smokey quartz is particularly beneficial in removing and dissolving negative thoughts, patterns and emotions which can arise from all kinds of anger and resentment. This powerful stone gently removes and dissolves our blockages, which are brought about by negativity, and brings us positive and enlightened energies.

As we are now learning, our dis-orders and dis-eases are often a result of blocked energies and emotions, which in turn cause blockages in our chakras. This eventually takes its toll on our health and well being.

A word on the spelling....

Depending on where you look or who you ask, the word "smokey" has two spellings: smoky and smokey. On my store, you will always see it spelled smokey because the other way (to me at least) looks weird.
