The Idea Box was created around the time my middle son was born in 2000. My kids LOVED reaching in the box and pulling out an activity for them to do. It was a surprise every single time!

I loved it because all of the activities and ideas were simple, required little to no prep-work, and used items that we had around the house. If we didn’t have a specific item, we easily substituted something in its place.

When my kids got old enough, I got to sit back and watch as they helped each other and had fun with the different activities. We definitely have some really good memories attached to our Idea Box.

All of the activities & ideas in the Toddler Box are perfect for 1 & 2 year olds. Activities can be as long or as short as you want, depending on your child’s attention span.

Your child will love reaching in and choosing a coin from the box. When you give your children choices you are providing an opportunity to build their self-esteem and help grow their decision making skills. Choices also provide an opportunity for them to listen, ask questions, and follow simple directions.

The difference between what a one year old can do and what a two year old can do is pretty big. Because of that difference, the activities and ideas can be easily adjusted, simplified or adapted for wherever your child is at developmentally. For ones, you can keep it simple. For twos, you can make it more challenging and detailed. Just adjust to fit where they are at.

The Idea Box is made of sturdy Paper Mache in a natural Kraft Brown color. The box takes up very little space at approx. 4.25 inches square and approx. 2.5 inches deep. Inside the box, you will find 30 large, double-sided wooden “coins”. Each ‘coin’ measures 1 3/4 inches round and about 3/16 inches thick. Each side of the ‘coin’ has an activity on it. There are 60 different, fun & easy activities for your child to choose from.

The best part is that the ideas and activities never get old...kids can do them over and over again.

Here are just a few of the ideas & activities you will find in the box:
-Try on grown-up shoes
-Give a doll or toy a ‘bath’
-Stack-up pillows or couch cushions
-Line-up stuffed animals. Play, talk and sit with them.

NOTE about the Coins: The ‘coins’ in the Toddler Box are larger & thicker than what you will find in our other Idea Boxes. The CPSC (Consumer Product Safety Commission) requires most small objects (for children less than 3 years of age) to be no less than 1.25 inches wide. The ‘coins’ in the Toddler Box far exceed that requirement at 1.75 inches wide. Although the ‘coins’ in our other Idea Boxes also exceed the requirement at 1.5 inches wide, I felt that for the Toddler age, the bigger the ‘coin’, the better. The ‘coins’ are not meant to be used as toys. Although the ‘coins ‘are NOT a choking hazard, please monitor your child when you use The Idea Box for Toddlers. Adult supervision is required at all times.

NOTE about the Box: This box is slightly larger than our regular Idea Boxes. Our regular Idea Boxes are approx. 3.75 inches square, and the Toddler box is approx. 4.25 inches square.
