Baltimore Ravens Mosaic

Ravens_mosaic_original

This 7.5" x 15.5" table top Ravens sign features black Bisazza glass agglomerate terrazzo from Spain on a travertine plaque. Travertine is similiar to marble and limestone, as it is developed over thousands of years. Travertine is formed by subterranean springs, underground rivers, and other water sources which carry mineral elements such as calcium carbonate. These mineral elements build up over long periods of time forming different types of stones depending on many variables. Travertine is a porous stone, which is the product of gases escaping as the travertine is formed. This particular piece has been filled, resulting in a smooth seamless surface. The edges are hand beveled by Pete Phillips, a tile setter in Tallahassee, Florida.
