Track list:
1) Home Tonight
2) Clean Up
3) Do Ask Do Tell
4) Vegas Is My Weakness

This past October/November while on tour, I wrote a song called "Do Ask Do Tell" about.. well what you'd expect.. and more. A few days later I realized I wanted to record this song immediately and a few others I'd been playing out live for awhile.

So I called up the usual suspects in Minneapolis and told them I was coming through in a week and booked a couple days at The Pearl Recording Studio.

In true organic fashion, I quickly taught the new song to George Hadfield and Alexander Young and with little preproduction, demoing or much arranging, we hit the studio to see what could happen. Brian Palay, DJ House and a bunch of others stopped in over the course of the 3 days and laid down fun additions.

The result? My new EP! This is my best work yet. No joke. I'm not being whipped by some label forcing me to say this. No one is pulling these strings baby! ;)

I spent so much money and about 6 months recording Whispering Endearments, but for this project I wanted to keep it organic, get the songs out quick and really capture everything that encompasses my live shows while maintaining the full integrity of the songs.

4 songs. Two you know well most likely (Clean Up and Vegas - from my previous shows over the past year) and two are brand new (Home Tonight, Do Ask Do Tell).

I recorded the vocals using The Pearl's 1959 Neumann U47 microphone (yes actually from 1959) - the best vocal microphone ever made. The Beatles used it for every instrument/vox almost exclusively from 1962 - 1970 as did Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Bing Crosby, Michael Buble and John Mayer. The vocals on this are butter baby! Butter. The extra creamy, salty kind. The kind that grandma Bubby puts in those cookies that make them so darn tasty and you don't know why (until you fall into cardiac arrest).

There's a "gang vocals" section on DADT where I got help from friends who stopped by and sang: Drew Preiner, Mark Schwandt, Ali Goldberg, Gadi Rouache, George Hadfield, Gabriel Douglas and Alexander Young.

I can't wait for you all to hear this and share it! If you purchase it the day it comes out on iTunes I'll love you for forever (and it'll help me pay some bills here in LA - rent ain't what it was in Minneapolis)... and maybe we can get this charting? Just maybe. How would that be for independent music. Pretty cool.

Much love,

~Ari
