What is the little green suitcase?
The little green suitcase is a mixed bag of amazing couture finds and thrifted surprises. Here, you'll find a finely curated collection of vintage, preloved and brand new designer pieces plus other unsigned treasures.
We love great bargains! Who doesn't? Even Angelina Jolie goes thrift shopping and parades her loot on the red carpet. Kate Middleton, too. But we also love quality. For us, craftsmanship is king. Quality trumps quantity anytime. Remember back in the days when they used to make products that were meant to last?
Ah, the joy of stumbling upon a pair of vintage Haskell or Schiaparelli earrings in a flea market in Italy; or finding a well-kept Chanel bag in an estate sale in New York; or a pair of unworn Lacroix pumps in Paris just because some years ago, somebody bought some shoes that were a size too small!
We want to share that joy with you. And the savings, too.
Ultimately, it's not only about the obscene amount of money saved, it's also about doing your bit for the environment.
How do I qualify for local discounts?
Local discounts are only available to Singapore buyers paying by cash or bank transfer. Meet-ups can also be arranged at Bishan MRT station for payment and item collection so buyers can save on postage cost.
Buyers can contact us to reserve an item for puchase. This is on a first-come-first-served basis. All items will remain available on our website for others to purchase until we confirm reservation or receipt of payment.
Are the items authentic?
All the designer items in our store are guaranteed authentic so please shop with confidence.
Some items are personally purchased by us from boutique stores or designer outlets in Europe. They are purchased mostly as end-season sale or clearance stock, hence the massive discount.
Others are sourced from authorised resellers, fashion stylists and reputable consignment stores around the world. For these items, we inspect them very carefully with a checklist and only items that pass our stringent vetting process get selected for sale in our store. If we are not sure about the authenticity of an item, we have it reviewed by independent third party experts.
Are the pre-owned and vintage items in good condition?
If you're lucky, some unused pre-owned items and display pieces are almost as good as brand new. Others may have slight wear or imperfections but are generally in mint condition. All noticeable damage and flaws are noted in the description.
Vintage items, unless otherwise stated, have been preloved so please expect normal wear. Still, these are high-quality (and in most cases, rare) vintage pieces made with excellent craftsmanship and finest quality materials. If properly cared for, well-made vintage and pre-owned designer pieces are more likely to outlive brand new, mass-produced items.
Are they clean and hygienic?
All our vintage and pre-owned items are cleaned using material-appropriate and professional cleaning solutions or treatments before they are put on sale. We restore and disinfect them the best we can so they are ready to use when you get them.
Vintage costume jewellery pieces are soaked in anti-microbial solution and painstakingly cleaned by hand. Preloved shoes and bags are also treated with anti-microbial cleaner and restored with leather moisturiser or fabric protector.
We value cleanliness and hygiene because we are neat freaks ourselves!
Are the costume jewellery suitable for sensitive skin?
Most designer costume jewellery pieces are gold-plated, silver-plated or rhodium-plated so they are suitable for most people with sensitive skin. However, some jewellery may be made of other metals or the plating may have worn off due to age.
If you have metal-sensitive skin, please let us now and we will coat the back and clips/posts of the earrings with an anti-allergy solution especially formulated to prevent skin irritation.
This is a free service, but we are only able to do it for earring purchases.
How do I care for costume/vintage jewellery?
By taking proper care of your jewellery, you will be able to enjoy them much longer and possibly even preserve them as heirloom pieces. It is advisable to store them in air-tight jewellery boxes (ziplock bags will also do) to keep them free from moisture, air and dust -- except for opals and pearls which need to breathe so fabric bags are more suitable. When storing them, keep jewellery items separately as some materials are harder and may scratch the rest.
Moisture as well as skin oils and cosmetics can cause plated jewellery to tarnish or rust. Hence, it is a good practice to wear your jewellery only after applying moisturiser, makeup, perfume and hairspray. Accumulation of water will also cause rhinestones to become dull and even weaken the glue so avoid contact with water (especially chlorinated) as much as possible.
To keep your jewellery clean and sparkly, simply wipe them with a soft dry cloth. Never wash them under running water. Toothpaste is abrasive so use it to clean only 925 plain silver jewellery. Similarly, silver polish should not be used on gold-plated jewellery as it will strip the gold plating. It is also wise not to polish antiqued silver pieces or vintage jewellery that have developed a nice patina.
Clear vinegar can be used to remove verdigris (green oxidation) on vintage jewellery -- except for genuine pearls and corals, foil-backed rhinestones, sterling silver and artisanal copper jewellery where verdigris was intentionally created for texture. Use a sharp toothpick to remove buildup, taking extra care not to cause excessive plating wear.
Finally, bear in mind that vintage items require mindful handling and tender loving care. So if you are not sure how to clean them -- don't.
How do I make clip earrings comfortable to wear?
By default, new clip earrings almost always pinch. Hence, you should take some time to loosen them before wearing to prevent headache and bruised earlobes. Even with vintage earrings, you should adjust the clips if they feel uncomfortable or loose.
Remember, however, that it is easier to loosen them than to make them tighter. So if they are slightly loose or are tight but still bearable, try using earring cushions or silicon clip sleeves instead.
Now, if they really pinch, you can use flat pliers, screw driver or even butter knife to slowly lift the tongue of the clip, adjusting bit by bit, to loosen the spring. Otherwise, you can also use your pliers to shift the entire base backwards. However, when you do this, please be careful not too use too much force or you will break the clip off.
How do I ensure proper fit for shoes?
Various countries and designers have different sizing standards. Even within a brand, sizing can vary from style to style. We list the size as indicated on the item or any accompanying document. In addition, we take and provide detailed measurements of each item. So please read the item description carefully and ask questions when in doubt.
For your reference, here are some sizing tips for shoes:
The general conversion rule from European to US shoe sizing is to subtract 30. For example: EU 37 = US 7; EU 41 = US 11. However, this may not always be true and you can sometimes lose half a size in conversion. UK sizing, meanwhile, is generally two sizes smaller than US sizing, although sometimes it can also be 2.5 sizes smaller. For example: US 6 = UK 4 or US 6 = UK 3.5.
Most designer shoes run true to size. However, Manolo Blahnik, Jimmy Choo and Christian Lacroix tend to run small/narrow. Often, depending on the style, it would be best to purchase half a size bigger than your usual US size for these brands.

What is this store's return and exchange policy?
All sales are final. Our items are sold at a massive discount and on an "as is" basis because they are mostly vintage, preloved and sale items. Hence, we cannot accept returns unless the item is grossly misrepresented.
We take great pains in describing our merchandise and providing multiple photos of the actual item on sale. We also encourage and try our best to reply promptly to queries. So please check the photos carefully, read the description and ask questions before making any purchase.
Do you accept orders placed outside of the US?
Certainly. International buyers are always welcome!
