Custom Order?

SierraMM posted June 05, 2011 04:05 ago

I'm new to this site *obviously*, how would I allow a customer to buy a custom order for something I don't have available yet?

Normally what i do for things that aren't available yet is make a mock up of what the product will look like and label it as a pre-order. With custom orders I would just set a varient as custom and in the description describe what the customer must do in order to customize their order

I work directly with the person and when we decide what they want I make a listing with a "Reserved Listing" image and then send them the link. I don't make custom orders until I receive payment so no images. :)

I see, and under quantity, how do they purchase it first? Do you leave it as 0 or 1 or something?

just make up a huge number, if you only put 1, after the first person buys it, it will say "sold out"

when i did my pre-orders I set the quantity for each size to over 9000

We've just added our custom made jewelry page. You can design your own jewelry/accessory. Choose from necklace, bracelet, earrings, magnet, phone charm, keyring, or bookmark. Choose different beads and one of our charms.

    Please give us some feedback.

I make digital stationery/greeting cards/scrapbooking stuff, that kind of thing. I made a product called 'Custom Card' so they can order it and then we discuss what their custom card should look like and other details. You could do something like that? You could have more than one with different prices for more/less work or more/less time it takes to make stuff, if you get what I'm saying...?
