I have only had one sale :( need advice

bellabean posted November 29, 2011 22:25 ago

I have only had one sale since I opened :( I have tried promoting on my facebook page, I even started a tumblr (bellabeanboutique.tumblr.com) and I have signed up for the super discounts, and I am on the Holiday Sale list. What else can I do?

    Hello Bellabean,

I hope that I can help you on this issue. When I first began posting items on sites, I noticed the very same thing that you are noticing right now.

You need to know that because you have listed your store in a few locations that you will begin to get traffic. You need to post an ad or information of your site every single day, many times per day. There are millions of sites out there but, honestly many are not worth it.

I have been selling on line since 1990 and I have found the right sites and software programs to make my sites work for me. I have recently opened a store on this site. Soon to market this site. But, before I do there are a few things that need to be worked out.

I will be making a listing available for a very small fee to anyone interested of how to promote and market their site to obtain the max amount of traffic possible. I am currently completing the 2012 listing and will be making it available very soon. Complete details are available by requesting it at ijc@usa.com.. Ask For Joe.

    Good Luck & Warm Regards
    Joe

    Hi Bellabean!

Have you tried WordPress or Blogspot? From WordPress I've recieved a lot of traffic. You could also try and showcase your items on Youtube.

I wish you the best of luck! :3

Well I can say for sure you're not going to reach many buyers on tumblr. Theres little to no market on tumblr for what you sell. Tumblr is pretty much full of hipster teenagers and young adults not so much moms. You'll prob have more success on another blog site (like maybe blogger.com) as long at you actually blog relevant and interesting things consistently and put time into developing it.

Also put more time into your facebook page, encourage friends to share a link on their facebooks, give discounts to people who do, or host giveaways for example: "Like this and share a link on your facebook to enter to win a free whatever!" etc.

And getting a nice banner and cleaning up your store's layout a little, even though it's not bad at all, wouldn't hurt either.

Networking and getting a following is hard work, you really have to give it your all. And lastly make sure your product is something that people want to and would buy!

I really hope you find success!!

I market to teenagers and young adults and even I can't get Tumblr to work for me :/ .

So far facebook has been one of the best tools I've used to gain sales, but I noticed that when I take time off and don't interact with my fans my sales drop to almost nothing. People like the interaction and if you can keep them coming to your shop daily the chances of them purchasing something is greater.

Have you ever thought of hosting games for prizes towards your shop? I've done a few where the prizes were certain discounts for the month. Just be creative!

Hosting a giveaway is one of the best ways to gain more fans, you can make it so one of the ways to gain entries is by getting friends to 'like' your page!

Tumblr is hard to get sales with since it's a younger based blogging site. I have a tumblr but it's more for personal use but my fans are more then welcome to visit it as well.

Blogger.com is another good tool you can use, a lot of moms use blogger.com and one thing that I know many people have found useful is the moms who do reviews. There are some really big name blogs out there with moms willing to do reviews on just about anything!!

There are lots of sites where you can go and post your items but I've found that the best way is interaction. Daily interaction with your potential buyers is key. Good luck!!

@iGLAMOURIZE you have a great store I saw tons of things I would want to buy, but I think you're not selling very well because your store is alil pricey like I don't think many people would pay $35 for those hoops, I wouldn't pay more that $9. And I would try and keep everything besides the jackets in the $25-$35 range. In my opinion as a HUGE online shopper: tops should be in the $20's, dresses/sweaters/pants in the $30's, and jackets in the $40's.

yourstrulygaby: what would you recommend cleaning up in my store?

  • YourstrulyGaby said December 01, 2011 15:48 ago

Oh aw well your store is pretty cute I'm just a big stickler for design :/. I would make the colors a little more cohesive. Instead of having three different background colors maybe just make them all a light blue or white. I would also change the neon blue you used for the links. You have to just play around with it until you get a clean look. A clean look can really bring a store together. And just work on a matching banner.

Hope that helped! :) Good luck!

I'm new to Storenvy specifically, however, with sales I have had success with advertising on blogs, or offering giveaways, as well as, twitter. If you are interested in giving the blog thing a shot, I'd put your button up and let you do a giveaway and get your name out there a little bit, just let me know!

i have found a way to get your website exposed nationwide

just go make a gmail account and sign up for adwords but dont use it google will send you an emeail within a week with free $100 dollar credit to try it out . thats $10 a day and you get 20+ visitors daily.

  • Heremeow said December 01, 2011 22:30 ago

    @TheiTronicShop That's a really good suggestion! lol

  • TheiTronicShop said December 01, 2011 22:37 ago

it works to i just keep on making new emails when the credits run out also submit your site to google yahoo and bing , make google crawl your site so it gets found easier and using a .com gets you more traffic i average about 150 in monthly sales and this is my 3rd month open.

  • bellabean said December 03, 2011 16:59 ago

@StreeterLtd- I would love to do that. My email is bellabeanboutique@hotmail.com just tell me what I need to send you!

@TheiTronicShop- thanks for the tip, I recently received a coupon off of Vista Print for that and I'm going to give it a try.
