Own domain name

PoeticRhythmTee posted April 13, 2010 17:16 ago

I know it's possible to cloak urls, I just don't know how. I know you can forward your own domain name to your storenvy store but i want the url to say either my domain or some other short url.

Yes, how do you do this?

  • Kelly said May 07, 2010 22:20 ago

    like my store's url?

  • AModernMyth007 said May 08, 2010 09:19 ago

If I go to your store, Kelly, it still has the Storenvy URL. Maybe it depends on how to get to your store?

  • mikehagstrom said May 25, 2010 12:14 ago

You can cloak it but as soon as they click on a link it will revert to the storenvy URL, also it could possibly cause problems with favorites.

The best way to do it is to simple do an A record redirect to the storenvy URL.

Wait, what? I don't have the storenvy url. Even if you type in cure.storenvy.com it changes.

  • AModernMyth007 said May 28, 2010 16:47 ago

@Kelly. I just double checked for you, and you do not have the Storenvy url. The first time I looked you did, but not anymore. Must have been a hiccup.

So, Kelly, how'd you do that?

Kelly is testing out a feature that we're going to be offering later in the summer. Custom domains will be available to everyone soon!

  • AModernMyth007 said June 04, 2010 14:47 ago

Wishing I didn't pay 11 dollars for a domain from Go Daddy now! haha

Oh, you'll still need to register your own domain with GoDaddy or someone for it to work. So that wasn't a waste. :-)

  • SuperFanboy said June 05, 2010 17:02 ago

don't go through godaddy, they are way to expensive. When you add so many features it just skyrockets! I went through inmotion webhosting, and was able to snag one for way less.

  • Kelly said June 06, 2010 11:33 ago

    such a sweet feature

  • AModernMyth007 said June 07, 2010 20:36 ago

I didn't pay for anything but the domain name, I don't need hosting since Storenvy is so kind as to take care of that for us =)

But, I am glad it wasn't a waste!

Awesome, thats a really cool feature!

@Kelly, nice looking shop, did you do the css yourself?

  • Kelly said June 29, 2010 01:31 ago

Thanks Lurid. Yeah I've been messing around with it for so long. I think I'm happy with the way it is now :)

  • venprontobooks said September 14, 2010 21:15 ago

I would like to use my own domain - basically store.mydomain.com instead of mystore.storeenvy.com.

    Where can I do this?

    Thanks!

  • Janette said September 15, 2010 12:44 ago

We'll be rolling this feature out to everyone this fall -- stay tuned! :)

  • birdcagecreativ said November 05, 2010 16:57 ago

any advance on this? does anyone know when this will be rolled out?

  • jacobwg said November 06, 2010 13:50 ago

Agreed... this is basically the only missing feature keeping me from switching my clients to Storenvy.

  • mnglorydays said January 25, 2011 22:30 ago

Any update on this feature? Thanks.

  • EPIConTOP said January 26, 2011 00:21 ago

Out of curiosity, how do we go about getting on a list to test this new feature as well as other future features? I spend my daytime job working for a large website and would actually enjoy putting my QA skills I've gathered towards something I'm a little bit more passionate about.

  • uneqclothing said January 26, 2011 11:08 ago

you can always forward people from one url to your storenvy site. super easy

  • harper said February 10, 2011 16:48 ago

Would love to use this feature. This is the one thing stopping me from moving from shopify.

  • bunnymade said March 08, 2011 07:41 ago

Since this is 9 months old, can we get an update as to whether personal domains can be used? It's kind of a deal breaker for SEO.

  • mnglorydays said March 08, 2011 08:07 ago

Agree. Please tell us how to do this.

    Thanks,

    Nathan

  • Hitesh said February 05, 2012 21:35 ago
