I just joined and was wondering how well anyone's artwork etc was selling on this site?
Here is my new work:

I'm not selling art on here but I imagine it varies quite a bit. Depends on how hard you work to build your name. You can do as well on here as anywhere else :)
I agree ;) you have to really work hard on promoting your products, shirts, art.... and I am sure you will do great! Good luck
Your art is really cool though, just sayin =)
Thanks :)
This is a new site to me and i was interested in peoples feedback about it. Cos i haven't quite found the perfect site for my work just yet. My first impression s that maybe this site needs to grow a bit more before i make my mind up on it.
What other sites have you been looking at? I really like all of the features Storevny gives you for free.
• inventory tracking
• visitor hits (unique and total)
• search engine terms
• top visiting countries
• discount codes
• complete HTML & CSS customization
• 5 photos per product
I also love the way the orders are organized. You can mark your orders as open, shipped, on hold, pending or canceled. The orders are then filed in their respective folder. Very cool.
Honestly, I spent $120 last year hosting my store with BigCartel and got way less.
What do you mean when you say the site needs to grow? Do you mean that you don't think you can sell as much here? I'd say that the site you choose isn't going to make a difference in the amount you sell. At least not with respect to buyer preferences. The whole thing is pretty transparent. I mean your fans won't care if you sell with storenvy, bigcartel, merchspin or whatever. As long as the site works, you've got nice pics, shipping doesn't take 5 months, products aren't shit stained when they get there etc. Or if you expect there to be a built in audience for your work - that doesn't exist.
Oh and your stuff is definitely amazingggg :)
I think it is really important to understand that just bc you open a store (doesn't matter where it is) that doesn't mean that customers will automatically know you are there, and flock to you to buy.
Sure the www has made selling art easier , but just like in a brick and mortar store, customers have to come to you.
Luckily with storenvy you have the opportunity to be stumbled upon by someone visiting another shop, but it is up to you to let everyone know about your store.
promote promote promote!!!
Good Luck!
Thanks for the comments.
This site seems to be the best designed, even better than some you have to pay for. I put my piece's up last week and was expecting them to drop of the newest items list pretty quickly, as things stand now they are 5th newest. I will defiantly recommend it to other people.
There is a good creative quality of products and items being sold on the site. Which is always a good sign.

Couldn't have put it better myself.
Chris-
Great to have you. The community is still growing so it's easier for great looking stuff like yours to stand out. But doing your own promo will always make the difference.
Everyone-
Be sure to rig up the Facebook app, if you haven't already. That helps your stuff get exposure, too.
Def. worth the 5 minutes or less to set up the Facebook app. It really helps people see your products, mostly for the customers that are interested but are a bit too lazy to click through to your actual store.
I love storenvy. I haven't sold anything on it yet, but it's the best online storefront i've seen. My wife and i both have individual stores, but BeardedLady Photography is a joint project we're doing and we're going to push it really hard starting next month some time. It really does matter how much you promote. Kelly said you can do as well here (regardless of how big the community is right now) as anywhere else....totally true. Just gotta work for it.
I just started my store as well (after having an Etsy for awhile and getting rid of it for this one), and I can say that online sales will have its ups and downs. I primarily do all of my sales in person when I do shows or conventions, so sales online are still something I am personally trying to figure out.
The best thing to do is not get too stressed out about it. Focus on your art first and foremost...Promote yourself, get out there, post on forums, be interactive and of course...make great art. The online sales will come naturally as people discover you.
The people that have no problems with online sales are the people that have already spent a LOT of time busting their ass getting to where they are. Everyone's gotta climb the ladder, right?
Good luck!
Hello Chris
Your artwork looks great and that is the first step to being successful but like anything else it takes a lot of work to become a success.
I have been an onlooker to Storenvy for a good few years and have loved seeing the development and the direction the website is going and have set up a store in preperation for getting all my artwork ready and I have no doubt that this is one of the best sites on the net to sell your products. But in order to get the sales you need to get yourself out there, if no one knows what you have to offer how can anyone buy your work. I have a marketing degree and understand that side of things and have already set out a marketing plan for myself when my store goes live and if you need any help on that side of things do not hesitate to ask.
But this site has a great community and from what I have seen everyone is happy to help.
Hope that helps.

I'm still figuring this site out. I've had an Etsy shop for awhile and still do. I get very few sales there. I have a blog, a flickr account and a FB page. And I've advertised my storenvy on Craigslist.... And I just got my first set of business cards. And I have some art in a local shop here...but still waiting for "consistent" sales. I've put myself out there in a million ways. I'm doing my first blog giveaway when I reach 100 followers. That's about where I'm at now...lot's of lookers and hearts and followers...but nobody buying.
Anybody got any other ideas?
I'm an artist as well. I have an Etsy, too, Hilary and I agreee. Etsy is very slow and there so much competition there that the only way you can make sales is to get outside customers to buy from Etsy. Not to mention the listing fees and all the money you lose if nothing sells after 4 months. I've just recently started up my jewelry/art business and I'm trying to work out the kinks. And considering I don't have a "real job" right now it's very hard for me to get the supplies I need in order to keep everything afloat.
This is totally new territory for me and I'm kinda in the dark. I don't even know how to ship my art, but I assume that I should go to the post office or FedEx and ask for tips. That is now on my to-do list.
I also have a blog, but it is rarely used because I don't think anybody reads it, I have a tumblr, twitter, and FB page (personal and store). I would say just post your business cards all over your town, possibly even fliers. I have to say I do believe I like Storenvy A LOT more than Etsy.
Oh, here's some of my work

Nothing's sold yet (but then again I did just open this afternoon). I've shown work in two gallery shows so far (and two more planned) and nothing's sold there, but I'm still keeping my head down and moving forward and working still. The worst thing you can do as an artist to yourself and your career is to stop.
When I set up shop here it was in leu of just opening up my own online store on the website I already have. That just means that my expectations were that 100% of sales or interest in my artwork were going to be driven here by me through gallery exhibitions, my website, and whatever other promotion I could conjure up.
Even though the community seems smaller than some other places, I have been pleasantly surprised as to how helpful people are with one another and how many visits I get through the marketplace itself. It's just a big bonus in my book on top of the sales I'm steering in.

Very Limited Edition ART TEES, Only 30pcs in the world
we made from love :d
I sell handmade kids storage in the form of monsters, and monster plushies. I love Storenvy, I wouldn't consider selling elsewhere online. I do sell in two brick and mortar stores, but honestly, I have MUCH better sales on Storenvy! :) I think if you have a good social media campaign, great customer service and a strong fan base, you will do very well here! :) It's all about driving people to the site, to your store. :) Good luck! You have amazing art, so I bet you will do very well! ♥
Chris I love your style- your work is awesome!
I just started here, too, so I haven't had any sales yet.
I've been on Etsy for several years now, and needed other options with less (or no) fees. I like the ease of set up, but it's true, as with any of the other marketplace sites, you have to ACTIVELY and tirelessly promote to get ppl to come look and hopefully buy!
It's not for wimps, lol!
