I wanted to get this out on the forum to see what others thought.
Dear Storenvy,
Some things I thought were annoying is when you add a product you've got to add the variants every time. Bigcartel has an option to save a default set which is awesome for shirts.
Having to set the full stock amount is also kind of annoying. Bigcartel just makes you put in how many you have in stock then tells you how man you've sold. It's a little thing but it's an extra step that doesn't need to be there and I like bigcartels method a lot more.
Pages
I hear this will come soon but giving users more pages is essential if you want them to run their whole site on storenvy, right now you are limited.
Blog
it would be great.
Google Analytics e-commerce
This would be a dream come true if I could set up the e-commerce section of google analytics.
Left bar is way to bulky, I deleted the whole thing because there wasn't anything there I needed.
Product Price bar, on product page
You have to go into the second css page to pull out the css info for the product price bar which I think is really ugly. That gradient is awful and the blue color for the numbers should be white if your going to give users the ability to edit it in the basic color selection page.
Some of the market pages don't work right, most loved isn't most loved, I'm sure there are probably other areas.
I say these things because I care about you and I love you very much

Or do you want the stores to have their own blogs?
Thanks, homez! We love hearing from people who have passionate opinions about what we're doing. We've got a lot of this on the roadmap already and we'll take a look at all the rest. I should go ahead and get the Google Analytics thing rigged up this week or next.
Also, everyone should keep in mind that the Storenvy team isn't even close to letting up. We've got TONS more that we want to do with the site. We just wanted to get this version out there for people to start using it. So if your "killer feature" is missing. chances are it's on the way.
Keep the feedback coming.

jonkruse, thanks for the feedback.
With regards to "basic" template design and UI (i.e. Sidebar and Product Price Bar), keep in mind that we've attempted to design a basic system that is useful for the masses. I can completely understand your being underwhelmed by elements of it.
However, this is where guys like yourself come in and bring customized wizardry to the table. Remember, you can be as crazy and far-fetched as possible while customizing. Wipe the entire HTML and CSS file clean if you choose (obviously leaving liquid elements intact), write new CSS rules that suit you better, etc, etc.
Lastly, you should be able to override any existing CSS by writing your own, or changing existing IDs & classes if you choose. Let me know if you think you're running into a problem with that, and I'll take a look.
We love you very much too. Shred *forever*.
I know you can change anything you want in css, just the regular price bar on the product page isn't up to par with the rest of the default layout. Changing the gradient background for it to a solid color is a lot better design and putting these colors in the control would really be "for the masses". I'm just pointing out that it's something that is hard for anyone that doesn't know css to change and can be better.
Awesome about google analytics. Your going to set it up so I can use the ecommerce section of it and track sales right?
Personally the only gripe I have is the fact that the product thumbnails in collections and "all products" have to be squares. which is kinda weird considering my main photos for the products are rectangles.
Something I have noticed, maybe its just be since i'm pretty new to this site and I just set up my shop, but once you turn off the edit at the top of your page, there is no easy way to get back to the admin for my store.
Yo mack just admin onto the end

How do I set up the google analytics?
That's still coming. In the next few weeks, I'm going to be adding a bunch of widgets to the store HTML options like Google Analytics, Twitter, RSS, etc. Stay tuned.
You can just setup google analytics like on any site by copyin and pasting the code, right?
What is the rss for? They have one on bigcartel for the products but I don't think it's very useful. Twitter would be cool.
Considering they blocked out javascript, I don't think you can just copy and paste the code.
I'm almost done with a Google Analytics plugin and a Twitter feed plugin. They should be available in the next couple days.
can anyone order from these stores, or must you sign up and become a member 1st, to order?....
Logged out users can add items to their cart and then when they go to check out, they are prompted to create an account. It's really easy though. Username, email, password, Submit! It takes 10 seconds and will allow users to track their order when we find time to get that feature done.
Any idea when i will be able to ship these packages through paypal?
Right now the address doesn't show up in paypal. This is the one thing that I really care about as a store owner. Keep us posted.
That's just a PayPal issue at this point. We'll be adding the functionality as soon as PayPal adds it to their Adaptive Payments API. Unfortunately, I wouldn't hold my breath for it being the next few weeks or anything. They take a really long time to add features. I'll let you know when I heard something though.
Be sure to make a lot of noise on the blog, twitter, forums, etc. when the Google Analytics functionality goes live, because that's most def. a thing to have. I love my stats like a fat kid loves cake.

Is the twitter feed plugin up and running now? I've tried to find any mention of it, but I'm coming up empty.
Please let me know.
Thanks.
Hey, @rapscallion!
Yes, there is... sorry it was hard to find, we'll be redoing our help section soon to make features like this clearer.
To add your twitter feed, simply place this code in any of your pages (or your base layout, if you want it to show on every page)
{% twitter_update_list username %}
Replace 'username' in that string with your twitter username.
It'll then appear in a good base layout, but you'll be able to style the CSS any way you'd like.
I didn't even know that existed! Awesome little line of code =)
Thanks so much Willo, that worked great!
I think it would be nice to have that Paypal thing fixed with the shipping info of the client that goes into paypal so we can just click n ship not have to copy and paste everything.
Also PLEASE make it so people can have the choice to signup before buying something. A lot of stores are losing sales because of it. When people think for too long then you lose the impulse buy!
It would definitely be sweet to be able to send the shipping info to PayPal. Unfortunately, they don't support it with the PayPal system we use. The one we use allows us to do "split payments" meaning one checkout process with items from more than one store involved. This is really nice for shoppers. Sites like Etsy require shoppers to check out once for each store. Not smooth.
That said, I just talked to a company that handles shipping label printing and so we might be working together to create something better than PayPal's shipping tools.
I'm looking into adding guest checkout now. It's definitely on the list.
Thanks Jon. Storenvy has been great on every level and I can guarantee that if you did switch over to having the ability to have a quick guest checkout like in Big Cartel and other online storefronts you guys would double the amount of stores you have. No joke. When I tell people about Storenvy that is the only reason why people don't sign up for it and stick with Big Cartel. If you can get it done it would only help everyone! (except Big Cartel ;) )
I agree, quite a few people have turned down ordering from my store because they don't want to sign up. People are lazy =\
Analytics tells me that all of my sales come from direct sources. Meaning that everyone simply typed in my domain. No other sources register sales. This can't possibly be the case and I want to see where my advertising dollars are most effective. Any fix in sight?
spacecowboyian-
I'm not sure I follow. I took a look at your admin panel and it showed a bunch of referring urls and a bunch of search terms people used to find your store. Are you referring to Google?
Yeah. In google analytics it shows all sources of revenue as being direct visits. Doesn't break down the revenue from those different sources.
Make an over $40 (or whatever amount) gets free shipping code that sellers can use to get people to buy just a little bit more stuff.
If someone is buying a $25 shirt and they see that you get free shipping on orders of $35 they might buy that extra tote bag or cheaper item that they may have not purchased before. I think everyone would love that feature for their stores!
Peace and best luck to all with Storenvy ventures!

Just thought of another thing that would be awesome...
A forum moderator. Someone who can answer questions that are posted, clean up the threads, and delete spam/unnecessary multiple posts of the same exact thing.
Just saying, would be awesome.
I have a feeling I know what inspired this last post.
At least I hope I know what inspired this last post and hope it wasn't something that I posted.

Nope, twas not you ;-)
I just thought of something else that would be awesome...
The ability to customize our packing slips. Right now I made my own in a Photoshop file and I fill it out individually for each order. This is a LOT of work when there are multiple orders. If there was a way to customize the provided packing slip that would make things so much easier.
I just don't like the way its set up right now, it doesn't show off Angry Spade, it shows off Storenvy. And even though I'm not opposed to the Storenvy logo being on the packing slip, I don't like it being the main focus.
Anyone else agree? Does anyone else even include a packing slip with their orders?
Easy fix. Go to the order page, click on print order but wait, instead of printing it right away, go to file on your internet browser, save page as>save as web page, complete. Then go where you saved the file (packing slip), edit the html source with notepad. Save, open with your internet browser again and that's a bingo. Print.
This is true, but its a ton of work to add in the prices and totals for each separate order. The packing slip as is doesn't include any prices so they have to be added in.
But this method does work well enough until I figure out a better plan, thanks!
Oh I see. Yeah, you're right. There's no prices.
I'd like to throw my vote in for customizable carts. Right now the difference between our own shop design and the Storenvy cart is too jarring and can throw off customers. I think a good solution would be like how a lot of POD sites such as Zazzle has it set up. If customers come from our own shops they see our customized carts, but if they come from the Storenvy marketplace then they'll see Storenvy's cart. That shit would be awesome!
Though I understand why that's not possible, I do really wish it was!
A lot of customers get confused when they're shopping on our store and then when they go to check out it sends them to a different website, or at least to them it LOOKS like a different one. And then they get switched over again to pay through PayPal.
I've seen some other sites that have customizable carts so it's definitely doable. At the very least I think we should have the ability to change header/font/color/bgcolor/etc. Even simple stuff like that would help immensely.
Yes but say, someone ordered something from your store, and then went on to another Storenvy store and purchased something from them, then there are two products from different stores in one persons shopping cart, which isn't a problem but then how would Storenvy know which custom shopping cart to show. It would just be confusing for the customer.
If they were only ordering from you it would be fine, but often times that's not the case.
Yeah that's a good point. But I would just follow the structure of the other established community shopping sites that allow customization. If customers are purchasing from the marketplace then they get the Storenvy cart. If they purchase from a store then they get the store's cart. And if they jump from store to store they get the cart of whatever store they're currently in but w/ all the products (from all stores) they added. It's not a new concept by any means and it seems to be working for the other sites so why not?
OR another solution is to make the design of the cart page plain, like simple black and whites. The blue clouds and birds and stuff is too much of a shock when going from store to cart and I think a simple design will be a little smoother.
I dunno. Just throwing out ideas. The cart design is the only issue I have with Storenvy. I'm not so concerned about the upselling of other products since I understand this is a free service. Everything else on Storenvy is awesome.
I suppose that makes sense, I agree with your second statement about making the shopping cart area more neutral so people aren't so shocked by the layout change.
Maybe soon, I know Storenvy is hard at work with a lot of changes =)
Yeah I heard about that...can't wait!
Man, i'd sacrifice a goat for Storenvy to add a blog/front page feature to the stores. That would be AWESOME.
How do you mean Front Page features?
Personally I'd just like to be able to add in javascript to the front page that lets me pull rss from an external blog... that TOTALLY screws SEO but at least I would be able to engage with my community right on my site.
Now. If there were custom domains, SEO would be saved! I would just point gearheadshirts.com at a wordpress or drupal setup, use the storenvy rss to pull in some widgets featuring new products and set the store up at store.gearheadshirts.com.
I think custom domains solves the issue for advanced users but a simple blog would let less advanced users make that more daily connection with their customers. I use facebook for that now but sometimes I'd love a place to make a bigger blog post that I link that community to... I just can't have it on my domain right now because I have to point gearheadshirts.com to gearhead.storenvy.com. I mean.. I don't HAVE to.. but I do.. and maybe I shouldn't.. hmm.
Wow.. i just posted that as the wrong account. I help manage my buddy's store as well :)
On that note... I think a "delete post" feature for the forum would be nice.
@Jon Basically what blackrabbit said. I think the ability to have a 'front page' or landing page that isn't immediately a store page (A blog, for example) would be awesome.
