Hand-Painted Haori - Japanese Wisteria

A simple Japanese haori becomes a work of art when it is hand-painted with the right motif. Shown on the model draped over a men's kimono, it is unisex and could be the perfect way to top off a historical costume or worn as Japanese-style modern garb.
The base haori is upcycled from an unfinished cosplay, never worn, cleaned and repaired to be used as a canvas for a wisteria motif. The entire bottom hem is HAND-PAINTED, each petal is unique and can never be perfecty reproduced. The wisteria flowers fall from green vines and brown branches to a dense gradient-painted hem of deep purple. The pale lavender haori is meant to drape on the shoulders in a somewhat anime style, with no ties or closures, but can also be worn as a yukata when belted. There is no exact size; the model shown is set at around a 38-40 chest, but SLC can provide shoulder width, length, and other measurements if requested.
The paint has been heat-set and will not wash out, but to prevent cracking or damage, complete machine washing is not recommended. Spot-clean or hand-wash if necessary and hang to dry. The haori itself can be ironed on a poly setting.
This is absolutely a one-of-a-kind item, a work of art in itself. We will never be able to copy it, consider it unique and special!

Do you accept orders placed outside of the US?
Absolutely! But shipping charges and local taxes, tariffs, and custom fees must be paid by the customer. Please be aware that choosing First Class International shipping has no guarantee of receipt and no insurance to cover loss. Please strongly consider Priority International shipping for tracking, insurance, and guarantees that the package will not be lost.
How long will it take to receive my order?
Once shipped most domestic orders (first class and Priority) have a 3-5 business day guarantee with tracking. International orders may take 6-10 days, or over 2 weeks for first class international.
Do you do custom orders or commissions?
We do! Commissions are SLC's primary business. Contact us directly via email to discuss custom orders, make sure to include reference pics for specific cosplay commissions. See our website (strangelandcostumes.com) for a portfolio of past commissions and examples of our work.
What we can't promise is that we can remake something featured in our shop in a different size. Most items in the shop are one-of-a-kind and we will never be able to get the same fabric again. What we can do is copy a design but make it in a different fabric, in which case we would treat it as a commission and use our own reference to properly copy it. Whatever the reason, we've got you covered!
