The Shine Project
I'm Ashley, a 26 year old entrepreneur who believes in using my company to help as many people as I can. A couple years ago I was interning at an inner city high school in Phoenix, AZ. I fell in love with the students and their potential and was heart broken when many of them told me they did not have plans after high school due to lack of guidance and funding. I knew that I had to do something. When I graduated college that year, I focused my time on raising money and awareness for these teens who deserve a chance at doing something great with their lives.
A year and a half ago, I knew I needed to do more. I created a business where we would employ these youth to help mentor and pay their way through college so we could come up with our own funding for them. I had never made a bracelet before, but I knew I could figure it out so I spent weeks and hundreds of hours learning how to make stack-able bracelets that I then taught my first team of 6 employees to make. We sold out our first week and have been the little engine that could ever since.
Threads is a cause driven business the changes the future of at risk youth. They come from various backgrounds, but all have one thing in common; they want to break the cycle. By employing them, we instill values of self reliance and hard work. They are paid fair wages for the bracelets they make and in turn are able to pay their way their way through school. Many Threads employees are first generation college students. They dream of becoming nurses, broadcasters, writers, and engineers.
Your purchase will directly impact a student. Even beyond financial support. your belief in them is a symbol of hope and trust that they can achieve what for so long seemed impossible. By purchasing Threads you are wearing more than just a bracelet, you are wearing change.
My employees inspire me to wake up in the morning and work harder than the day before.
