My name is Reilly Hodgson. I own and operate No Fun Press and this is my storenvy story.

No Fun is a creative publisher specializing in limited edition artists' prints, apparel, & softgoods. I started the brand in 2011 after being awarded a student entrepreneur grant. I was back to living in the Toronto suburbs after being in Vancouver's east side and going printmaking university for a few years. Naturally, I wasn't enjoying my time very much. I'd applied for the grant mainly in an effort to put off finding a "real job" for the summer, not entirely imagining I'd actually be awarded anything.

My background is in hardcore punk, gangster rap, and fine art (I went to and dropped out of a university photography program too), so I'm a strong believer in the hustle and the DIY mindset. In 2008, before No Fun, I co-founded Blood of the Young Zine with my pal and fellow artist Dimitri Karakostas. Our attitude has always been - If we can't make it ourselves, we're going to try to learn how. If we suck at it, we're going to find a local friend who doesn't to help.

Making high quality products with our hands and getting those products into the hands of like-minded people has always been the key to Blood of the Young's success. For me - continuing with that when starting No Fun Press was rule #1. I still print shirts, posters, postcards, pins, etc. in the live/work studio space I was able to move the project into 2 years ago. We even offer photo + design services to other small brands now too.

I'm also proud to say that the majority of what I can't do on my own is still made by hand by local, independent artisans & businesses. Toronto's west end has got a lot of talent coming up lately and has been majorly supportive of the No Fun vibe since we came out. (Thanks everyone, see you on the block!)

While I've never expected building my brand would be an express trip, I've found that storenvy has definitely sped up the process. Over the past few years I've worked to see No Fun gear land in some really great brick and mortar shops in NYC, Toronto, Paris, and even Taipei - but my ability to connect directly in the marketplace with people everywhere who share the No Fun attitude continues to be even more rewarding.

When I opened No Fun Press for business in 2011 I remember telling a few people close to me that I was never going to do anything I didn't want to do, ever again. The reception I got at the time was all scoffs and eye-rolls. When I was asked recently what the main inspiration behind my designs was and that popped back into my mind. The only difference? This time around I got a couple of high fives.
