Wicked Plum Emporium

My name is Eva, the daydreamer and owner of Ripe Wicked Plum, a "dream emporium" that evolved over a span of many years. Before jewelry design there was painting, sewing, writing and many other outlets that I still cherish. Initially I started making items for myself to standout and develop a completely original appearance. I began selling my designs when I had accumulated too many pieces to solely keep for myself. After receiving many encouraging compliments on my handmade creations I decided to open a shop. Combining recycled vintage heirlooms from antique stores with natural earth elements gives my creations a new life that find their way to someone who can truly appreciate their essence. I strive to make every piece one of a kind and encapsulate a tone that will speak to you personally and cause a spellbound connection. Limiting mass reproductions allows everyone the chance to own a design as unique and beautiful as themselves.

I grew up on a quaint farm in the rural outskirts of a small quiet town in Ontario, Canada. This place held more magic and wonder than you could ever imagine which is a large source of my inspiration. After a long time spent trying to find suitable employment, I decided it wasn't right to simply settle for anything. I put my full energy and time into maintaining an online store of my own. This was the greatest decision I could make for myself and current lifestyle. Preservation of mental wellness is a top priority for myself. I confide in old movies, academic books, well curated playlists, nature and my cat to help influence my creative process. I am at no loss when it comes to accessible inspiration, my surroundings are filled with collections of beautiful artifacts and natural history. This journey has been a surreal adventure for me as I learned to develop my trade over the last 8 years. Perhaps instead of having only jewelry in stock I'd like to work on including a variety of products in the near future. I'm really passionate about herbal beauty remedies and experimenting with textiles, these are just a few projects in production! I wish to see my brand continue to flourish with time and become a collective haven for the dreamers.

Store FAQ

  • How long will it take to receive my order?

Once shipped most domestic orders take anywhere from 2 to 10 business days to arrive depending on the efficiency of your local postal service. International shipping delivery times may vary between 2 and 12 weeks. May I remind you this is a one woman operation, sometimes after receiving a heavy workload it may take me longer to assemble and ship out orders, please be patient with me. Parcels are shipped once every week (excluding weekends and holidays) through standard canada post services.
  • How long have you been operating an online store?

Initially when I decided to sell handmade items my only resource was online selling through social networking websites for many years while also making appearances at local craft shows, festivals, markets, etc. An official store was opened in 2011 receiving great support and success.
  • Can I reserve an item?

Custom orders/reservations can be placed through email if you are looking for something truly unique as gift or any other purpose. I can recreate past designs as long as my supplies allow it. Please feel free to message me and put in a request for a specific design!
  • Do you have any credentials or technical training?

All of my skills are self taught through careful and meticulous practice with the aid of multiple resources. I've confided in all creative outlets from sewing to painting since I was a child, jewelry is second nature to me and has been an active hobby in my life for nearly 10 years. My interest in botanical remedies stems from my personal experiences in the beauty realm. Every store bought product was wasted through trial and error when it came to my skin regimen, which comes with relying on commercialized retail products to solve my issues. With no sign of improvement I decided to try my luck at mastering natural home remedies. Success was proven with my old time potions and the healing magic of plants worked wonders to revive, cleanse and repair my ailments. Sharing the wonder that plants can provide and seeing the results flourish is truly satisfying. I'm inspired by what nature can provide for us in so many different ways and wish to keep the tradition of heirloom processes present in a modern day society.
  • Where do you find your supplies?

I try my best to source most of my charms, chain and other findings locally at flea markers, boutiques and thrift stores, which ensures the designs are mostly recycled. That's also the reason why I do many one off pieces, they're one of a kind and unique to the buyer. When buying online supplies I take time to assess each order and shop in my continuation to support handmade artists and vintage sellers. Any natural pieces for example - bones, teeth, flowers and wings have been sourced locally through ethical suppliers or recycled by myself wandering through the rural areas in my city. My handcrafted botanical remedies are all made with certified organic, natural and 100% pure essential oils and base oils sourced locally and online through certified organic companies. I pride myself in my ability to forage through my surroundings for a healing sustenance. Right down to the packaging and labels, every choice is consciously made to benefit your well being.
  • Do you accept orders placed outside of the US?

Yes! Shipping rate is standard to the size of the package and the destination with NO insurance or tracking. Please contact me if you would like insurance or tracking and I would be happy to set up a custom listing meeting your needs. Each design is packaged safely and shipped through standard postal services, arrival of the parcel varies from country to country. If you need priority shipping or a tracking number please message me personally, I'd be happy to set up a custom listing along with insurance, etc.
  • What if I need an item I preordered sooner than the expected shipping date?

Preorders are a great way to secure a unique item and also support the artist in the design phase. Rarely will my items be a preorder, but on occasion if a piece is in high demand I will allow it to be purchased ahead of time, after being purchased you will receive a reminder email from myself personally detailing the order further. I ship preorders out by sequence and priority and you will be contacted when your order is being shipped out. Please be patient and respectful with me. *If you are purchasing this as a gift and need it sooner than the expected shipping date please contact me!
  • How many people operate this store?

This is purely a one woman operation. I dream, design, assemble, market, package and mail everything myself!
  • I am also a fellow artisan and was curious if you're open to trades?

I am always open to discussing a trade between artists. Although I have never participated in one before things I have an accumulation of items that could be for sale/trade, old neglected clothes, pre-made jewelry or a custom design, knick knacks, little drawings, mini jars filled with random specimens, some dioramas or collection boxes, surprise bags, personal herbal remedies or their recipes..or both. Things I like or have general interest in obtaining, pressed flowers, seed paper, journals, glassware, vintage frames, minerals and crystals, bones and skulls, old hardware, ceramic spoons, botanical prints, apothecary bottles, handmade patches, knick knacks and trinkets, wood boxes and really anything magical. For anyone who may be interested email me!
  • What locations do you ship to?

I ship to all locations, although some countries may not accept mail from outside of the country or charges additional customs fees (for which I am not responsible for) depending on what the parcel has inside, please check with your postal system guidelines before placing an order.
  • A product I purchased from your store broke what can be done about this?

Please contact me personally about these issues, I can not assist you if you're directing your issues on a listing from my store. I am very sorry if a design you had bought from me has broken. I do ensure I use good quality supplies but I also a lot of recycled and vintage items in my pieces as well because it's part of my lifestyle and is an economical choice which may cause some fragility if you, the wearer, are not careful with your purchase. Handmade jewelry can be just as delicate as mass produced factory manufactured designs. I can not offer to replace broken items but if you contact me I can happily direct you into how your design can be fixed, if it's something as simple as a broken chain or clasp you can find many articles online for jewelry repair like this one! http://www.wikihow.com/Repair-a-Broken-Necklace
